Media Credentialing & Event Access

Moon Area School District recognizes the role of traditional and emerging media in covering interscholastic athletics. These rules and regulations establish consistent standards for media credentials and access to District athletic events while supporting student safety, event operations, and facility security.

Media Credential Eligibility

Media credentials may be issued to individuals engaged in legitimate news gathering, reporting, photography, videography, broadcasting, or editorial coverage on behalf of an established or regularly publishing media outlet or platform.

  • Eligibility is not determined solely by the method of publication. Print, television, radio, digital, podcast, streaming, and social-media outlets may be considered.
  • Applicants may be required to provide examples of recent published work and information verifying their outlet or platform.
  • Credentials are intended for editorial/news-gathering purposes. Commercial photography, recruiting services, promotional content, or other commercial activities require separate authorization.
  • Credential decisions will not be based on an outlet’s viewpoint, editorial position, or favorable or unfavorable coverage of the District, its teams, employees, or student-athletes.
  • Credentials are event-specific, non-transferable, and subject to space, safety, operational, and facility limitations.

Event & Facility Access

A media credential does not constitute unrestricted or all-access admission.

  • Credentialed media must display identification/credentials when requested and comply with instructions from District administration, event management, security, and officials.
  • Media must remain within designated press, photography, broadcast, or interview areas.
  • Sideline, field, court, press box, and broadcast access may be limited based on venue conditions and event operations.
  • Credentials do not authorize access to locker rooms, athletic training rooms, team meeting areas, benches, team transportation, offices, or other restricted areas.
  • Media activity may not interfere with competition, team operations, spectators, officials, or emergency/safety procedures.

Student-Athlete & Staff Interviews

  • Credentials do not provide unrestricted access to student-athletes.
  • Interviews must occur in approved areas and may be subject to reasonable timing and supervision requirements.
  • Media may not enter locker rooms, athletic training areas, team meetings, or other student-only areas to conduct interviews.
  • Requests involving personnel, eligibility, discipline, medical information, legal matters, or District operations should be directed to the Athletic Director.

Credential Approval, Denial & Revocation

Media credentials and access are issued at the discretion of the Moon Area School District Athletic Department. Credentialed individuals must remain in designated areas and comply with all directions from athletic administration, event management, security, and officials. Credentials are non-transferable. Access to team benches, locker rooms, athletic training areas, and other restricted areas is prohibited unless specifically authorized. Credentialed individuals may not interfere with participants, coaches, officials, game personnel, or spectators. Sideline and field-level access may be restricted based on safety, space, and event operations. Moon Area School District reserves the right to deny or revoke credentials or access at any time.
